Go if

Anglers and paddlers with self-contained rigs who can roll in Thursday or Friday morning. The fishing is genuinely exceptional, the beach is swimmable in summer, and it costs nothing. Pack all your water and heavy-duty bug spray.

Skip if

No vault toilet, no potable water, and only seven sites that fill fast on summer weekends. If arriving early isn't an option, or if basic sanitation infrastructure is a hard requirement, this setup will disappoint.
