Best season: summer. Summer offers reliably dry, comfortable mountain weather (typical mornings around 50–60°F and afternoons near 80–85°F) and is when Bucks Lake and the campground are most accessible for boating, swimming, lakeshore fishing, and summit hikes. Boat ramps, swimming spots, and most trailheads are fully usable, and alpine wildflowers and long daylight hours make it ideal for multi-day trips. Expect higher crowds in mid-July (Week 28) through August, so reserve sites and arrive early on weekends. Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
July–August best: warm days, dry skies, boat ramps open and full access to lake activities.

Sundew Campground offers a range of amenities set amidst a scenic fir and pine forest near Bucks Lake. The campground provides 20 campsites, suitable for both RVs and tents, all of which are equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, and bear boxes for food storage. Drinking water is available through faucets scattered across the campground, and there are two concrete vault toilet buildings for visitors. However, there are no electric hookups or dump stations on-site. Cell phone service is reported to be unreliable. Firewood can be purchased from the campground host. "The restrooms were clean and the smell of pine helps to mask the sewage," one user remarked.
