Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of comfortable daytime temps (typically 50–70°F) and crisp, quiet evenings (25–40°F), making hiking and mountain biking especially pleasant without summer heat. Trails are generally fully accessible after summer, crowds thin because Legacy has only 14 sites, and the forest takes on a golden, peaceful quality beneath the ponderosa canopy. Expect lower visitor numbers on weekdays, but check for local hunting seasons and be aware of early-season snow possibilities late‑ Peak months: September, October, June, July Avoid: December, January, February
Fall 'delivers the best camping window' with pleasant days (50–70°F) and golden ponderosa tones.
