Go if

Kayakers wanting flat, motor-free water on a weekday morning will get the best of this place. Summer weekdays are quietest; the lake surface is typically glassy before afternoon wind picks up. Free and first-come.

Skip if

No potable water on-site means you pack everything in. No camping, no swimming, and services outside mid-May to late September are unreliable, winter access depends entirely on road conditions.
