Forest Road 276, East Fork Recreation Area, Alpine, AZ

No restrooms and no potable water are the fixed reality here, year-round. Anyone who needs hookups or can't carry in all their drinking water should keep scrolling, and large motorhomes won't fit the sites.

Fall is the standout season. Aspens and hardwoods turn gold and copper, usually peaking in late September or early October. Daytime temperatures hover around 50-70°F, nights drop into the 25-40°F range. Cooler water temps improve trout activity, and summer crowds thin out so the campground feels quieter. Early fall also means stable access on paved forest roads before snow closes things down. Winter brings snow and much colder temps. Summer works but gets busier.
Fall is a standout season with aspens peaking late Sept–Oct; explicitly called out.
Aspen Campground, located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest and nestled along the East Fork of the Black River, offers a rustic camping experience with minimal amenities. The campground is shaded by Ponderosa pines and hardwood trees, and the river meanders through a picturesque valley providing a serene setting. However, it lacks modern conveniences such as restrooms and potable water on-site. These factors make it suitable for campers seeking a primitive outdoor experience. Picnic tables are available at all sites, aiding dining and leisure activities.
