Hikers, anglers, or anyone expecting quiet mornings will find this campground frustrating. Engine noise runs through the day, the Fairfax Bridge is permanently closed (check your route in), and there's no potable water on site.

Summer is the primary season. June through September delivers dry days in the 65–80°F range and nights in the 40s–50s, which keeps trails rideable and mud minimal. Holiday weekends in July and August bring moderate crowds, but the trail network spreads people out. Spring and fall shoulder seasons work if you can handle colder nights. Reviews warn that nights get "super cold" even in warm months, so bring layers. Winter closes most access.
Primary season: dry 65–80°F days, trails rideable; most popular time per reviews.
