Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather, colorful shoreline foliage, and excellent water and wildlife activity — expect daytime highs in the 60s–70s°F and crisp nights in the 40s–50s (especially October). Boating, fishing (strong fall bite for bass and crappie), hiking, and wildlife viewing are at their peak while humidity drops and mosquitoes taper off. Crowds are noticeably lighter than midsummer, making lakeside sites and trails more peaceful without sacrificing services. Peak months: October, September, May, June Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall noted as best conditions: cooler temps, lower humidity, good fall fishing and foliage.
