Best season: fall. Fall brings the most comfortable weather — daytime highs typically in the 60s–80s°F (60–85°F) with lower humidity — making long hikes through the sand pine scrub and paddling on Clearwater Lake much more pleasant. Water temperatures remain warm enough for swimming and boating, fishing is productive as fish feed more actively in cooler water, and insect pressure drops so wildlife viewing improves. Crowds are generally moderate to light after the summer holidays, although check the forest hunting/ Peak months: October, November, March, April Avoid: September
