Best season: fall. Fall offers the best balance of comfortable weather and scenic payoff — daytime highs are typically in the mid-60s to mid-70s°F with crisp nights in the 40s–50s°F, ideal for hiking, biking, and shoreline fishing. Leaf color on the hardwoods peaks in October, turning the park’s trails and lake vistas into prime photography and wildlife-viewing opportunities while boat traffic eases compared with summer. Expect moderate crowds concentrated on fall weekends (leaf-peeping and boating still popular), Peak months: October, September, May, November
Described as best time: mild temps, peak leaf color, ideal hiking/birding conditions.
