Best season: fall. Fall offers the clearest payoff at Sunrise Cabin — crisp days, cooler nights, and dramatic Appalachian foliage make hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography especially rewarding. Expect daytime highs roughly in the 50s–60s°F (40s–50s°F at dawn/evening) from late September through October, with peak color usually in mid-to-late October at this 2,500 ft elevation. Trails and scenic overlooks are at their most scenic and comfortable, and while weekend crowds increase during peak color, weekdays in Peak months: October, September, May, June Avoid: December, January, February, March
