Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of comfortable hiking weather and spectacular New England foliage — the woods around Radeke Cabin turn brilliant reds, oranges and golds from late September through mid-October. Daytimes are typically cool and crisp (mid 40s to low 60s °F) with chilly nights (20s–30s °F), ideal for day hikes, photography, and quiet riverside fishing. Expect higher visitor numbers on weekend foliage peaks, but mid-week stays are peaceful and still show excellent color. Peak months: October, September, June, July Avoid: April
Fall yields brilliant reds/oranges; described as best season with spectacular color and comfortable temps.
Reservation tips, booking windows, and free cancellation alerts.
Radeke Cabin offers a rustic, minimalist experience with limited amenities. The cabin has 10 wooden bunks divided into three rooms, as well as a table, chairs, a couch, and a wood stove. Firewood is provided only for the indoor wood stove from October 1 to June 1; campers must bring their own for the outdoor campfire ring. The cabin lacks potable water, running water, and electricity, requiring campers to bring their own water and garbage bags to pack out all trash. Bedding, cooking equipment, and emergency supplies are not provided. An accessible pit toilet is available on-site, and a wheelchair ramp is installed for accessibility.
