Best season: fall. Fall offers the most dramatic scenery and the most comfortable weather — expect crisp days in the 50s–70s°F and chilly nights in the 20s–40s°F as cottonwoods and aspens turn gold and red (peak usually late September through early October). Trails, creekside fishing, and photography are at their peak with cooler temperatures and fewer insects, while canyon shade keeps daytime hikes pleasant. Weekdays are typically quiet; weekends see an uptick from leaf-peepers, so plan accordingly. Peak months: October, September, June, July Avoid: December, January, February
Overview: 'Fall delivers the best conditions' with peak color late Sep–Oct — top season.
Lower Little Bear Campground offers essential amenities aimed at providing a comfortable camping experience in a secluded, natural environment. The facilities include picnic tables, Dutch oven stands, serving tables, pedestal grills, and fire rings with benches. However, there are notable limitations: there is no on-site potable water, no restrooms directly at the campground, and no electricity or sewer hookups. Visitors must travel 7 miles to Stuart Guard Station to access potable water and 1/3 mile north to access a restroom.
