Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of mild daytime temperatures (typically 50–70°F / 10–21°C), crisp nights (25–40°F / -4–4°C), superb color as cottonwoods and aspens turn gold, and lower insect and crowd levels. Hiking, bike rides along forest roads, and riverside fishing are at their peak—water levels are lower and clearer, making fishing easier and trails pleasantly cool. Be aware that fall also overlaps local big-game hunting seasons, so wear blaze orange and check forest notices for closures. Peak months: September, October, June, August Avoid: December, January, February
Overview states fall is best: superb color, mild days and crisp nights.

Amenities include a double site with a capacity for up to 12 people, graveled parking spur, picnic table, and fire ring.
