No potable water and no hookups rule this out for anyone expecting developed amenities, and with only two first-come sites, there's a real chance you drive up and both are taken.

Fall is the sweet spot here. Daytime temperatures typically run 50–70°F with crisp, clear air that's great for hiking and photography. The aspens peak in color and trails stay dry. Nights drop below freezing regularly, and early snow is possible, so bring layers and be ready for cold mornings. Fewer visitors use the two group sites except on holiday weekends, and you'll want to wear blaze orange during hunting season. Summer reaches around 79°F during the day. Winter can hit 13°F with snow cover, though the campground may not be accessible.
Fall called the 'sweet spot'; aspens peak in color and trails stay dry.
Birch Creek Campground offers essential amenities in a natural setting. The campground features vault toilets in each of the two group campsites. The upper campsite provides a pavilion for shade during the summer. Both campsites are equipped with picnic tables and fire pits, but no potable water or hookups are available. Pets are allowed but must be leashed, and owners are required to clean up after them to ensure safety for visitors and wildlife.
