No showers anywhere on site, no garbage cans (you haul trash to shared dumpsters), cell service is weak across all carriers, and lower sites get little shade. If any of those are deal-breakers, this one will wear on you.

The elevation is 5,900 ft. The campground, located beside Oak Creek, has two loops connected by a road lined with group sites. These group sites are available to single-family campers (at the single rate) provided they are not reserved. One loop features a large grass area with a volleyball court and all the tent sites (walk- in). The other loop stretches out along Oak Creek with most of the camp sites overlooking the creek. Although called Oak Creek, the campground has an abundance of beautiful maple trees as well as cottonwoods and Gamble oak. The surrounding geology is used as a study area by several colleges. Originally a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)-built campground in the 1930s with its stone pavilion and bathrooms remaining, the campground has retained its rustic charm. Reservations are for group camping only and are made through the Fillmore Ranger District Office. The entire campground can be reserved for a single group.
Open May 25 through September 15
The only wheelchair friendly toilet is located between the two loops.
Some parking aprons are dirt while other are gravel. The loop to the left of entrance to campground is tightly configured with tree-lined, narrow interior road.
In Oak City, UT, at the intersection of Main and Center Streets, turn east onto Center St. and go 4.3 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign into campground.

Summer brings the most reliable conditions, with daytime highs around 65–85°F and nights cooling to 40–50°F. These months offer dry trails and full campground access, though weekends fill with families and boaters. Early spring and late fall can see snow dustings. The area stays dry during peak season, but visitors should plan for temperature swings between day and night. Midweek visits avoid the weekend boat-launch crowds.
Fewer visitors and quieter conditions after peak season; good colors with aspens.
