No water on-site is a hard stop for campers who pack light or rely on camp infrastructure. Some fire pits are damaged and unusable, the five sites fill fast on summer weekends with no reservation option, and winter access is genuinely rough.

Summer brings the most reliable access and the driest weather. Daytime highs typically run 65–80°F with cool nights in the mid-30s to mid-40s°F. Trails are fully passable, and wildflower meadows at lower elevations hit their peak. Winter covers the campground in snow and frost, with freezing temperatures and challenging access. Spring sees occasional rain showers mixed with sunshine as the forest greens up.
Summer offers most reliable access, dry weather and peak popularity for hiking and camping.
