No potable water on site means hauling everything in, which rules this out for anyone traveling without tanks or extra jugs. Trailer campers should know site sizes are limited and there's no dump station within easy reach.

This very rustic, primitive camp is located near Rock Creek and the route of the Historic Summit Trail. The small campground offers seven camp sites interspersed with aspen and surrounded by a mixed conifer forest, which provides shade during summer months. Just a short distance away is a former gravel pit now filled with water in which visitors enjoy a summer swim.

For thos looking for a great mountain bike ride on old two-track roads in a remote, challenging setting, this may just be the place!

Summer delivers the best conditions. Daytime highs run 70–85°F, nights cool to the 40s–50s. The creek is warm enough for swimming, trails are dry, and wildflowers peak. Weekends see moderate use, but seven sites spread through the trees keeps the campground quiet. Fall turns the aspens gold. Winter brings snow and freezing temperatures; you'll need proper gear if you camp then. Spring means rushing water and wildflowers, though some trails may still be muddy.
Summer best: warm creek swimming, dry trails, shaded sites and peak wildflowers.
Potable water is not available at this site. Size & number of trailer sites limited (no dump station). There is a 14 day stay limit on all National Grassland and US Forest Service land including but not limited to campgrounds and other developed facilities.
