Fremont Point Cabin

Driving directionsSummer Travel: From the Paisley Ranger District Office in Paisley, Oregon: Travel north on State Route 31 for 34.2 miles, between mile posts 64 and 65, turn left (west) onto the graveled Forest Service Road (FSR) 2901. Follow FSR 2901 for 16.1 miles. Turn left (east) on FSR 034 and continue for 2.3 miles to the Fremont National Recreation Trailhead. From the trailhead, continue .3 miles on the narrow access road to Fremont Cabin. If you are traveling with a large RV or pulling a trailer, the road should be scouted prior to driving to the cabin, as there is limited parking and turning space available. Winter Travel: For winter travelers the snow conditions are variable but generally drive-in access is not possible and you must use snowshoes, skis, or snowmobiles to access Fremont Cabin. The snowshoe/ski trail is marked with blue diamond-shaped tags attached to trees and spans approximately 10 miles using forest roads 3012-014, 3012, 3012-015, and 2901-034. The snowmobile route spans approximately 15 miles following forest roads 3012, 2901, and 2901-034, marked with orange diamond-shaped tags.
The roads are gravel and require high clearance vehicles in all seasons. Winter access is highly challenging due to unplowed roads, which require snowshoes, skis, or snowmobiles. "Warning - roads and sno park NOT plowed as stated in facility driving directions. Prepare to get stuck in snow" (Kathryn A, user review). Summer conditions are easier, though the narrow roads may still pose challenges. "Drive in was easy and well-marked, only about 30-40 minutes off the main road" (Madison M, user review).
Nearby places
Pai sley (approx. 34 miles, about 50 minutes), Silver Lake (approx. 16 miles, about 30 minutes).
Nearby supplies
Closest convenience store is a 45-minute drive one-way. Visitors are advised to bring all supplies including water and bedding.
