<div class="usa-alert usa-alert--info"><div class="usa-alert__body"><h4 class="usa-alert__heading">Fourmile Lake Campground and Day Use Area is at the southern end of <a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/fremont-winema/recreation/recarea/?recid=60187">Sky Lakes Wilderness</a>. This rustic campground with few amenities is the place to get away from the modern world. Horse corrals are available in the upper portion of the campground and the proximity to the wilderness and <a href="http://www.pcta.org/discover-the-trail/">Pacific Crest Trail</a> make it ideal for the backcountry enthusiast.</h4></div></div><p>Sky Lakes Wilderness occupies the crest of the High Cascades, extending south from the boundary of Crater Lake National Park to Fourmile Lake. The wilderness has gentle, densely forested terrain with occasional steep areas. The name derives from the many small lakes, most of them clustered in several glacial basins near the crest of the Cascade Range. Several species of trees including Shasta red fir, western white pine, mountain hemlock, lodgepole pine, Engelmann spruce and whitebark pine are found throughout the area. The forest's understory is dominated by species of huckleberry, as well as manzanita, snowbrush, and heather.</p><p>There are 29 camp sites with RV parking including one host site, two sets of vault toilets, nine horse camps, and two hand pumps for water. Some sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Look for boat trailer and passenger vehicle parking in boat ramp and day use areas. Please follow directional signage and park in a responsible manner.</p><p>Fourmile Lake’s water level fluctuates with clear, pristine snowmelt each year. The shoreline is a mix of sand and pebbly rocks, and exceptional views of Mt. The elevation is 5,700 ft. The campground has two sections stretching along the west side of Fourmile Lake. Both sections are spurs ending in a large loop with most sites overlooking the lake. Horses are permitted in the backside of the section to the left of campground entrance, sites 14 through 23. These campsites include pole box stalls. Although there are a few fir trees scattered around the campground, Lodgepole pine provide most of the shade. The section to the right of entrance accesses the dam and includes a boat ramp and day-use area. The campground is nicely spread out with widely separated campsites providing good privacy. Bug spray is recommended.

The water spigots are handpumps. It's a "hike" to the vaults from many campsites.
Fourmile Lake is 740 acres. Power boats are limited to 10mph. The boat ramp is primitive.
The parking aprons are gravel and most pull-throughs can accommodate any size RV.
In Klamath Falls, OR, at intersection of US Rt. 97 and State Rt. 140, take Rt. 140 west (at Lake of the Woods sign) and go 32.3 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign onto Forest Rt. 3661 (gravel) and go 5.5 miles to campground.

Best season: summer. Summer is the clearest, most accessible season — the campground is open for reservations July 1 through September 5 — and offers the warmest and most reliable conditions for lake and trail activities. Expect daytime highs around 65–80°F and cool nights in the mid-30s to low-50s, making it ideal for boating, trout fishing, day hikes into Sky Lakes Wilderness, mountain biking, and staged pack trips from the horse corrals.
