Go if

Hikers and equestrians who pack all their own water and a portable toilet will get the most out of this spot. The Rio Medio Trailhead starts right at camp, summer nights drop to the 30s and 40s so bring layers, and the mountain sunset views alone earn return trips.

Skip if

The vault toilet is welded shut, trash cans overflow, the nine-mile access road is rough enough to damage low-clearance rigs, and logging trucks plus ATV traffic can shatter the quiet. Anyone expecting even minimal maintained facilities should look elsewhere.
