No potable water on-site means hauling your own supply, and the outhouse-only setup with zero showers will wear thin after a muddy day on the trail if you're not genuinely committed to roughing it.

Fall offers the sweet spot: mid-40s to low-60s °F during the day, near-freezing nights, and aspens lighting up the trailsides in September and October. The sandy trails firm up after summer rains, and weekend crowds thin compared to peak season. Spring and summer see longer riding days but muddier conditions and more traffic. Be aware that November brings hunters into the forest. The campground closes for winter, trails buried under snow.
Fall called a 'sweet spot'; aspens light up trails and temps are ideal for riding.
