Summer is the clear choice for Intermediate Lake Campground because the park is officially open June 1 through Labor Day and water-based travel and camping access are at their peak. Expect cool, lake-moderated days (roughly 55–70°F) and chilly nights (around 40–50°F), with frequent cloud cover and steady winds—excellent conditions for boating, paddling, fishing and backcountry hiking. Wildlife viewing (moose, birds) and portage canoe trips are most reliable in July and August, and while these is Peak months: July, August, June Avoid: September, October, November, December

Intermediate Lake Campground offers a remote and primitive camping experience on the shoreline of Intermediate Lake. The location is accessible only by canoe or kayak via a 0.6-mile portage from Lake Richie or a 0.4-mile portage from Siskiwit Lake. There are no private boat access options.
