Burt Lake Group Camp is a single primitive tent site in Burt Lake State Park that accommodates up to 25 campers. The park sits on the southern shore of Burt Lake near Indian River, offering direct access to a sandy beach and the Inland Waterway system. Vault toilets are the only on-site facility. Call the park office directly to reserve.
Rustic, tent-only group-use campsite reserved for youth groups (one site).
Weather and SeasonsSummer is the clear choice here. Daily highs run mid-70s to mid-80s, nights cool to the 50s and 60s. Long daylight hours mean more time for swimming, boating, fishing, and biking. The beach gets busy on summer weekends. Reserve early if you want peak-season dates. Winter brings cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, though the primitive tent site may be less practical when snow covers the ground.
Natural Features and SceneryThe campground sits beneath pines and mixed hardwoods at 656 feet elevation, steps from Burt Lake's southern shore. The park's sandy beach slopes into shallow, swimmable water. Open grassy areas stretch between the wooded camp area and the lake. Burt Lake is part of Michigan's Inland Waterway, a chain of connected lakes and rivers that draws boaters and anglers.
Scenic ViewsViews include Burt Lake and the park's sandy beach and lakeshore; wooded surroundings provide shaded, forested vistas around the group site.
