Best season: fall. Fall offers the most rewarding combination of cool, stable weather and spectacular color — expect daytime highs around 50–65°F and crisp nights in the 30s–40s from mid-September into October. This is peak time for trail riding through maple and oak canopy, quieter group campsites, and excellent shore fishing on Hungerford Lake as crowds thin. Be aware that archery/deer seasons begin in the fall; wear high-visibility gear on shared trails and check local hunting calendars. Peak months: September, October, June, August Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall noted as the best experience with peak maple and oak color; ideal for riding and views.
