Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access and the best window for hiking, wildlife viewing and enjoying the Capehorn meadows when wildflowers and grasses are at their peak. Expect daytime highs roughly 65–80°F and cool nights in the mid-30s to mid-40s at 6,600 ft, making for comfortable daytime exploration and crisp evenings around the campfire. The five-site campground stays relatively uncrowded compared with lower-elevation trailheads, but be prepared for mosquitoes near the marshes, occasional午後 Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: December, January, February

Thatcher Campground offers basic amenities suitable for a rustic camping experience near Highway 21. Each of the 5 sites includes picnic tables and fire rings with cooking grills. Trailers and motorhomes up to 32 feet are accommodated.
