No potable water means hauling your own supply for every meal and drink. With only three sites and no reservations, driving 21 miles from Mountain Home to find it full is a real risk.

<p>The Tailwaters Campground is accessed from State Highway 20. </p><p>There are 3 campsites and plenty of opportunities to fish for trout and bass. The campground is located on the west shore of Anderson Ranch Reservoir.</p><p>The <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/boise/recarea/?recid=81126">Tailwaters boat ramp</a> is within the campground provides access for rafts, motorized and non-motorized boats.</p><p><strong>Be advised: There is an Elmore county ordinance restricting any motorized equipment on the Lower South Fork Boise River.</strong></p>

Summer brings daytime highs around 70–75°F and cool nights in the 40s–50s, with the campground open late May through late September. This is when the reservoir is fully accessible for boating, fishing, and paddling. Winter brings freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall that close the area. The dry summer climate means consistent sunshine.
Open late May–late Sept; fills early during peak summer fishing and boating season.
