Horse campers and anglers who want the Selway River basically to themselves in summer. The hitching rails at every site are rare, the trout pools are real, and the central meadow clearing doubles as a decent stargazing spot on clear nights.

No potable water on-site means hauling everything in from Darby, an hour-and-a-half away. Add the risk of storm-downed trees blocking the road, and anyone without a saw and full water containers should think twice.

Summer brings the most reliable conditions. Daytime highs commonly reach the 70s to upper 80s°F, with cool nights dropping into the 40s and 50s. The short access road stays clear of snow and closures during this season, making it the easiest time to reach trailheads and fish the Selway. Early spring and late fall can see dustings of snow, and winter closes the campground entirely when Nez Perce Pass gets buried. River visibility improves after spring runoff subsides.
Summer offers most reliable conditions; highs in 70s–80s and campground open.
Indian Creek Campground provides a rustic camping experience along the Selway River with two campsites (according to one source, three according to another), hitching rails for horses, and a vault toilet. There are no fees required, and campers can enjoy a tranquil setting amidst nature. RVs or trailers up to 25 feet in length can be accommodated. Water is not potable, and there is no indication of additional amenities such as electrical hookups, Wi-Fi, or a dump station.
