Anglers, boaters, and families get the most out of this place. The lake holds rainbow trout on Gold Medal water, the marina rents pontoons and paddleboards, and Harebell loop has newer facilities. Reserve early, sites go fast and the best loops disappear first.
Bridge Island tent sites sit close to the water but have almost no shade, and the dump station has had recent closures. Generator noise and tight neighbor spacing in some loops bother light sleepers. Shade-seekers should study the loop map before booking.

The lake warms to roughly 55-65°F by July and August, making swimming tolerable and the beach usable. Afternoon thunderstorms are common. Wildflower displays peak mid-summer. Bugs can be thick in June. Multiple campers recommend bringing spray. Winter transforms the park for snowmobiling and ice fishing. Spring arrives late at this elevation.
