Go if

Anglers and wildlife watchers get the most from this place. Site 43 has a direct trail to the river, and fall is the clear sweet spot: cottonwoods go gold, crowds thin, and osprey and bald eagle sightings pick up. Supplies are one mile away in Hayden.

Skip if

Highway 40 runs close enough that road noise reaches most of the campground after dark. Summer adds heavy mosquito pressure across the whole site. The hiking is thin too: one short nature trail on-site, with longer routes requiring a drive to BLM land.
