Go if

Fall hikers and Jeep-trail explorers get the most from this place. Aspen color peaks, the crowds thin, and the Weehawken Trail dries out. Site 8 sits above the river with more space; arrive early or it's gone. Bring water, there's none on-site.

Skip if

Road noise and dust follow you all day from Jeep and ATV traffic. Tent campers on rocky ground need a free-standing setup. Restrooms have been found dirty and without toilet paper. Declining recent reviews suggest conditions aren't improving.
