Summer offers the most reliable, comfortable weather for camping and long alpine hikes — daytime highs typically range from the mid-60s to mid-70s°F and nights drop into the 30s–40s°F at 8,615 ft. Trails into Longs Peak and Wild Basin are fully accessible and wildflower displays and abundant wildlife viewing are at their peak; expect busy weekends in July and August but quieter midweek. Be prepared for afternoon mountain thunderstorms (common July–August) and take time to acclimate to the high-e Peak months: July, August, September Avoid: December, January, February, March

Meeker Park Overflow Campground offers 29 first-come, first-served campsites that accommodate tents, campers, trailers, and RVs. The campground is ideal for tent camping due to unpaved roads, steep hills, and short pull-ins. While there are no showers, drinking water, electricity, or dump stations, the amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, and portable toilets. Users frequently praised the cleanliness and maintenance of the portable toilets. "Portable toilets were actually really clean and well maintained!" wrote one reviewer. Bear-proof containers are provided at each site along with garbage bins. Firewood is available for purchase ($6 per bundle or 3 bundles for $15).
