Best season: summer. Summer offers the easiest access, the warmest daytime temperatures (typically mid-70s to low-80s°F) and the longest days for river play and hiking — perfect for swimming, fishing, and exploring the Stanislaus River canyon. Campsites are walk-in but reliably snow-free from late June through early September, making gear hauls manageable and trailheads accessible. Expect moderate weekend crowds (quieter midweek) and be prepared for fire restrictions and afternoon heat by mid-late summer. Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: December, January, February
Summer is best; late June–early Sept snow-free with mid-70s to low-80s temps.
