Sinkyone Wilderness State Park, Briceland Thorn Road, Whitethorn, CA 95589

No potable water on-site, no cell signal, no ADA access, and roads close completely in wet weather, anyone without a full resupply plan or relying on connectivity for safety reasons will be in a bad spot out here.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Summer brings the most reliable dry weather and safe road access. Morning coastal fog typically burns off to clear skies, with daytime highs around 60–75°F and nighttime lows in the 40s–50s. This is the best window for hiking, shore fishing, and wildlife viewing. July through September see the most weekend visitors, though crowds remain light compared to developed state parks. Roads become impassable during wet weather. A common complaint in reviews. The rainy season runs November through May, and winter storms can close access entirely.
Summer offers the most reliable dry weather, clearer skies after morning fog and best road access.

Barnside Campground is located within the rugged and remote Sinkyone Wilderness State Park, which is part of California's Lost Coast. This campground offers primitive camping facilities and is known for its serene and isolated environment. Campers must bring their own potable water as there is no developed water source available. Trash disposal is pack-in-pack-out, and amenities are minimal, aligning with the wilderness setting. Firewood purchase is limited to the visitor center, or campers may bring their own.
