<p>Located on a hillside overlooking Bass Lake, Forks Campground has huge Ponderosa Pines that create a majestic setting for a fantastic camping experience. The camp lies at an elevation of 3,400 feet and offers a few sites with limited lake views, while others are adjacent to the creek. Each unit has a picnic table, pedestal grill, stone fire ring and paved parking spur. Forks Campground provides flush toilets (including ones that meet accessibility standards) and drinking water. The parking spurs here are not large enough to fit boat trailers.</p><p>Bass Lake is a very popular area known for its variety of fish, as well as the bald and golden eagles that make their home here. The lake is within walking distance where you can enjoy the beach, fishing, water skiing and swimming. The Forks is located 24 miles from the entrance of Yosemite and in the Sierra National Forest. The elevation is 3,400 ft. Sierra National Forest 313 The campground, one of four in the Bass Lake Recreation Area and across the road from Bass Lake, is composed of two unnamed overlapping loops on a hillside overlooking Bass Lake. A few camp sites have a limited view of the lake. Cedar, oak, and pines provide ample shade for most camp sites and fair privacy. There is insufficient space for parking boat trailers at any site. The camp sites have pedestal grilles and stone fire rings. A few sites are adjacent to a creek that feeds the lake. Resorts scattered along the Bass Lake shoreline offer a variety of services including gas, tackle, bait, boat rentals, limited groceries, and a cook's night out. A variety of interpretive/campfire programs are offered during summer weekends - check campground fee board for schedule.

Bass Lake is 1,160 acres. Areas suitable for swimming at designated spots along shoreline - no life guards. Boat ramp is located 3.4 miles east of campground - $3 fee for parking. All motorized watercraft must register at Sheriff's Tower on lake and pay fee. Because of quantity of power boats and narrow 0.5-mile width of lake, sailing could be a challenge. Suggest Huntington Lake and campgrounds there for sailing. The parking aprons are paved, many of which are eroded reducing useable area. Interior road is rough and narrow with tight curves. The waste station is 0.2 miles west of campground on Road 222 and must be approached from the east; check it out before dumping.
In Oakhurst, CA, at intersection of Victoria La (State Rt. 41) and Road 426, take Road 426 south and go 6.3 miles to Bass Lake sign. Turn left after sign, staying on Road 426, and go 0.9 miles to an intersection and stop sign. Turn left onto Road 222 and go 1.2 miles to the Campground Registration Office on the left. (All campers, including those with reservations, must FIRST go to Registration Office to pay fee and obtain site selection.) After processing at Registration Office, exit back onto Road 222 (back the way you came) and go 1.3 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign into campground.

Best season: summer. Summer is the best time to visit Forks Campground for warm, lake‑centered recreation — expect daytime highs in the mid‑80s to mid‑90s°F and cool evenings in the 50s–60s. Water activities (swimming, boating, paddleboarding) and shore fishing are at their peak, and most trailheads and services around Bass Lake are fully accessible. Note that weekends and holiday weeks can be busy, so book early and be prepared for insects at dusk and elevated wildfire awareness.
