Best season: summer. Summer is the best time to visit South Fork because water recreation is at its peak—warm air and water make boating, swimming, and fishing most enjoyable, and the campground’s full-service boat launch is fully utilized. Expect daytime highs commonly in the mid-80s to low-100s°F and nights cooling into the mid-50s to upper 60s, ideal for long days on Lake Isabella and comfortable evenings at camp. Weekdays are relatively quiet, but holiday weekends can be busy, so reserve early and come prepared: Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: December, January, February
Summer is peak; warm air/water and shoreline camping make it most enjoyable season.
