Best season: summer. Summer offers the warmest, most reliable window for hiking and horseback riding — expect daytime highs roughly 65–85°F and cool nights around 40–50°F. Trails and forest roads are generally clear of snow, wildflower displays and open vistas are at their peak, and long daylight hours make it easy to explore the Greenhorn Mountains. Crowds are moderate (Evans Flat has only ~20 sites), so weekends can fill but midweek stays feel very remote. Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
Summer best: 65–85°F days, trails clear, wildflowers peak and reviewers favor summer visits.
