The elevation is 6,600 ft. The campground is composed of two loops - Cedar and Shady Oak. Shady Oak is well named because mature Black oaks provide shade to the camp sites. Sites in this loop tend to be close together providing little privacy. On the other hand, camp sites in the Cedar Loop provide a bit more privacy because the sites are a little more widely spaced. Overstory is composed of Black oak, Jeffrey and Ponderosa pines. All the pull-throughs are in Cedar Loop. Firewood is available for a fee. Limited groceries are available at Angelus Oak, CA, west of campground on State Rt. 38. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.
