<p>Located on the north side of Highway 38 between the Barton Flats Visitor Center and Barton Flats Family Campground (off of Camp Arbolado Road) accommodates up to 50 people and 10 vehicles.</p><p>The camp site has 6 picnic tables, 3 double-pedestal grills, 2 single-pedestal grills, 2 fire rings. Bear boxes are available for food storage. Box dimension 48"x 29"x 26".</p><p>A hiking trail, the <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/sbnf/recarea/?recid=26567">Rio Monte Trail (1E28)</a> heads east out of the entrance to this campground, crossing both Barton Flats and San Gorgonio Family Campgrounds, Oso and Lobo Group Campgrounds, then ends just past the Greyback Amphitheater. Heading west on this trail out of the campground, then crossing Highway 38, this trail connects with <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/sbnf/recarea/?recid=26569">Jenks Lake Trail (1E20)</a>.</p><p><iframe allowfullscreen="" aria-label="Council Group Campground Widget" frameborder="0" height="800" src="https://cdn.recreation.gov/widget/fs/camping/index.html?id=232031" width="100%"></iframe></p>

Summer offers the warmest, most reliable weather and full access to nearby water and trail recreation, making it the best time to book the entire group site for reunions and multi-day outings. Expect daytime highs typically in the mid-60s to low-80s°F with cool nights in the 40s–50s°F, ideal for hiking, boating and evening campfires without deep-winter snow. The Council Group Campground is equipped with a single group campsite for up to 50 people and 13 vehicles. Facilities include tables, campfire rings with grills, larger campfire circles, accessible vault toilets, and drinking water. A campground host is available at the nearby Barton Flats Campground for check-in and assistance.
