Ortega Flats sites get highway noise and some reviewers report intermittent water outages. Pets aren't allowed anywhere in the park, and squirrels will get into unsecured gear if you're not careful.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Spring delivers the standout experience. Wildflower displays peak March through May, and daytime temperatures hover between 60–75°F with cool nights in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Seasonal creeks usually carry water during this window, increasing wildlife activity along the trails. You'll see higher weekend crowds during peak bloom, and trails sometimes close after winter storms leave them muddy. Summer stays warm and dry. Winter brings cooler, occasionally wet conditions that revive the creeks but can make trails impassable until they dry out.
Spring wildflower displays are a standout feature praised repeatedly by reviewers.
