Best season: spring. Spring offers the best combination of comfortable hiking weather and desert renewal — daytime highs typically sit in the 60s to mid-70s°F with cool nights in the 40s–50s°F, making long trail days pleasant. Wildflowers and green washes after winter rains brighten the McCain Valley and the live-oak grove around the campground, and routes to Sombrero Peak and Upper Bow Willow Canyon are at their most scenic. Crowds are moderate (peak weekends in March–April), so plan weekday trips if you want more, Peak months: March, April, May, October Avoid: July, August
Overview: spring is best—comfortable hikes, wildflower displays and cool nights.
