Tent campers who grab sites 51-60 get the best views in the park. Fall weekends in September and October deliver clear skies, calmer crowds, and mid-70s temperatures. Dolphins and whales pass offshore regularly, so pack binoculars.
PCH noise reaches the lower rows at night, the tunnel under the highway to the beach floods regularly, there are no fire pits (propane only), and some host interactions have been genuinely unpleasant. At $75 plus fees, those tradeoffs sting.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Fall brings the warmest, clearest weather with fewer crowds. Daytime highs run mid-60s to upper-70s°F in September and October, when the marine layer lifts and ocean conditions calm. Summer has comfortable 70s°F temperatures but attracts heavier weekend traffic. Winter cools down with occasional rain and dramatic seascapes. The famous marine layer creates cool mornings year-round.
Fall has the warmest, clearest weather and fewer crowds—best seasonal window per sources.

Moro Campground at Crystal Cove State Park offers a mix of hookup RV sites, non-hookup tent sites, and hike-in primitive camping with facilities including token-operated hot showers, flush toilets, and clean restrooms. "The shower rooms are always clean," according to user Shirley Chien. "You must buy tokens and you can't adjust shower temperature but it is hot enough." Another review highlights that "Bathrooms were clean & a short walk to the beach." Free Wi-Fi is available, though users have noted it is slow and unstable. Sites are tiered, providing ocean views from every spot and are spacious with privacy shrubs between sites. However, there are no fire pits, only propane grills are allowed, as confirmed by user Rick Simper: "No fire pits and only propane grills are allowed." The campground is well-maintained with clean facilities and well-organized spaces.
