Deanes Valley Family Campground sits deep in Plumas National Forest at 4,524 feet, offering eight first-come, first-served sites that rarely fill even on summer weekends. Natural Features and SceneryDense mixed conifer forest wraps each site in shade and solitude. The South Fork of Rock Creek runs nearby, and a meadow just beyond the campground attracts deer, bears, and other wildlife, especially at night. The forest canopy stayed green through recent wildfires that burned surrounding areas. You'll hear streams, woodpeckers, and little else. Spacing between sites is generous enough that you'll often feel alone in the forest.
