Go if

Fall is the sweet spot here: temps in the 50s-70s, clearer skies after summer smoke, and the 4.5-mile east trail to the observation deck above Feather Falls. Bring all your water, arrive Friday to beat Saturday crowds, and check closure status before you drive out.

Skip if

No potable water, no flush toilets, no showers, and right now the site is closed. Fire damage has left burned bridges and downed trees on trail sections, and the steep, narrow access road turns back drivers who weren't expecting it.

Each campsite is equipped with a table and a fire ring. The Feather Falls area is bear habitat, and bears are attracted to trash and food. Please help keep yourself and your fellow campers safe, and store all food and dispose of all waste properly.
