Lake Ouachita, AR is located on the Ouachita River near the resort spa of Hot Springs. Its crystal-clear waters make the lake a popular site for scuba diving. There are numerous camping, fishing and swimming opportunities at the lake as well as concessions with marinas, motels, restaurants and horseback riding. There is a boating trail for viewing geological formations on the shoreline.
From Hot Springs, AR, 13 miles, west on Highway 270 and north on Highway 227.

Fall delivers the best combination of comfortable weather and spectacular scenery — daytime highs usually run 55–75°F with crisp nights in the 40s–50s — and October is prime for peak leaf color across the Ouachita slopes. Cooler temperatures make hiking, mountain biking and shoreline fishing more pleasant while lake visibility stays excellent for boating and paddling; weekday crowds are light and weekends moderate compared with summer. Highway 27 Campground provides a variety of essential camping amenities. All 59 campsites include electric hookups. While water hookups are not provided directly at campsites, water spigots are available in each loop. Additional amenities include a dump station, fish cleaning station, hot showers, a boat ramp, and a swim beach. The campground also features small, unpaved spaces with varying pad lengths due to uneven terrain.
