Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable, comfortable weather and the longest daylight (often 16–20 hours), with daytime highs typically in the mid-40s to upper-60s °F at 1,450 ft — ideal for long hikes, boating, and world-class fishing on Crescent Lake. Trails are mostly snow-free by late June, alpine views are fully revealed, and wildflowers and wildlife activity are at their peak. Expect moderate crowding mid-July to early August; book early (reservations open June 20, 2025) for weekend stays. Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: January, February, March, April
Summer reviews highlight fishing, hiking, boating; trails clear and wildflowers peak in July-Aug.
