<p>Lake Sherwood Recreation Area is a complete family destination offering a wide variety of activities and camping options. Standard, tent-only and group camping facilities are perched along Lake Sherwood, the largest lake on Monongahela National Forest. Swimming beaches, a picnic area, boat ramp and several hiking trails are among the features of the area.</p><p>At an elevation of 2,600 feet, Lake Sherwood spans 156 acres. A variety of animals make their home here, including black bear, coyote, wild turkey, white-tailed deer, red and gray fox, bobcat, fisher, otter and mink.</p>

Best season: summer. Summer offers the most consistent warm weather and full access to Lake Sherwood's 156-acre lake, so water activities—swimming, kayaking, boating, and warm-water fishing—are at their peak. Daytime highs typically sit in the low-to-mid 70s to low 80s with cool nights in the 50s, though afternoon thunderstorms are common in the mountains so plan around them. Most campground services and loops are fully open and reservations are available, but expect higher crowds and book early for weekends and the Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: November, December, January, February

Electric is only available at campsite #11. No other sites can access electricity. It is prohibited to run electric cords from campsites to host sites, restrooms, or other areas to hook into electric for public safety. Please use self -contained battery powered equipment for C-Pap or other electric needs. Generators can only be operated between 10am and 6pm.
