The outhouses are reportedly unusable right now, there's no potable water, and previous campers regularly leave trash and abandoned gear behind. If a functioning toilet or clean baseline camp is non-negotiable, this one will disappoint.

Greenwood Point Campground at Lake Moomaw offers the solitude of an isolated and remote location. With no road access, the adventure is just getting there! Strap on that pack and take a hike, paddle, or canoe directly to the shores of the campground. Wooded campsites encircle an open and grassy common area, and lakeside views make this a popular private and quiet camping destination.

Fall brings the best conditions. Daytime highs reach the mid-50s to mid-60s°F, with nights dropping to the mid-30s to low 40s°F from late September through mid-October. Peak foliage lights up the surrounding ridges during this window. Summer temperatures climb to 86°F, good for swimming but accompanied by higher insect pressure and algae. Winter sees nighttime lows around 29°F and afternoon highs near 44°F. Spring brings wildflowers but heavy tick activity, especially in May.
Fall called best season: pleasant temps, peak foliage and excellent views.
