This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the most dependable weather for hiking the Rock Creek and Estes Butte trails and for enjoying riverside camping — expect daytime highs commonly in the 70s to low 80s°F and cool nights in the 40s–50s°F at 2,546 ft. Creeks are lower and trails are usually dry by mid-summer, making route-finding and stream crossings easier; this is prime time for day hikes, photographing the confluence, and cooling off in the Chiwawa. Weekends can be moderately busy because the campground is first--- Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
Seasonal note: summer is the most reliable season with highs in the 70s–80s and lower creek flows.
