The campground is currently closed because of post-fire flooding hazards, so hold off until the Forest Service reopens it. Even when it's back, the first-come-first-served setup with only two sites means summer weekends are a real gamble after a long hike in.

Summer brings the most reliable weather and easiest lake access. Daytime highs run mid-70s to upper-80s°F, with evenings cooling into the 40s–60s. Long daylight hours make the hike in feel manageable. Swimming and full-day hikes along the shore work best in these months.
