Summer offers the most reliable access and the best weather for high-elevation camping — daytime highs are typically in the mid-50s to upper-60s°F (around 55–70°F) with crisp nights often in the 30s–40s°F. Trails and viewpoints are free of snow, wildflowers and alpine meadows are at their peak, and the long, clear evenings make this an excellent place for stargazing in one of the region’s darkest skies. Natural Features and SceneryThe elevation puts you above much of the surrounding terrain, with views stretching across ridgelines and down toward Port Angeles. Deer, grouse, and rabbits move through camp regularly. On clear evenings, the Milky Way stretches overhead in one of the region's darkest skies. Alpine meadows bloom in summer, and the nearby Blue Mountain summit offers 360-degree views accessible by a short hike from camp.
